Established in 1997 as a micro scale company, David-Louis.com is also celebrating its 10th anniversary. Originally manufacturing and supplying corporate giftware and batches of branded products David-Louis has introduced a range of exclusive design led tabletop products, trophies and otherwise exclusive commission products.
In order to enter new markets and maintain and increase market share the company has regularly introduced new and exciting products to customers. This has been achieved by accessing and constantly developing its knowledge of Computer Aided Design, and laser cutting technologies.
Brief
JIIC assisted with the design & manufacture of a range of table-top products utilising technology that was new to the company, which offered the potential to introduce further ranges based on a self-assembly theme. They provided an independent assessment of the company's market options, and advised on manufacturing processes that would reduce costs.
Impact
- Finishing processes were minimised, time to market reduced and manufacturing costs were controlled;
- The assistance provided reduced the risk of embarking on an unsuccessful technology strategy;
- The support helped the company create their core business values and deliver a range with both a narrative and an identity, consistent with the company's ethos.
The positive attitude towards design within the company has been further developed, reflected in increased resources devoted to design activities. The business is maintaining and extending collaboration with the JIIC.
