Course information
Due to the intensive and specialist practical nature of the courses we can only accept between six and ten students per course, therefore we suggest you reserve your place early, by credit/debit card, to avoid disappointment.
When viewing the course information you should make allowance for the additional cost of purchasing hand tools and/or materials. This is dependant on the individual project you have chosen to do, the course content or both. In some cases materials or kits will be supplied by the tutor. If this is applicable to your course you will pay for them during the course and retain these, alternatively you may need to make a local purchase with the tutor's assistance. All details regarding this will be sent to you approximately four weeks or earlier prior to the commencement of your course. Due to student's individual needs, course content may vary from that described on this website.
Reserving a course place
Once you have decided that you would like to participate in one of the short courses, please telephone to reserve your place and pay the course fee. We will confirm your reservation in writing and send you a receipt for your payment. Please note that we cannot reserve you a place on any of the courses until we are in receipt of your deposit or full payment. Reservations are on a first come first served basis.
Booking conditions
(a) The courses are entirely funded by students' fees, therefore if there are not enough reservations to make the course viable at least four weeks before the course is planned, it may have to be cancelled and Birmingham City University will refund any course fees you have paid in full. Should we need to cancel your course for any reason we will telephone you immediately. Please be aware we cannot accept any responsibility for any travel or accommodation arrangements you may have made as a consequence of a course cancellation.
(b) If you need to cancel your course reservation you must give us a minimum of four weeks notice before the start date. Cancellation must be advised of in writing or by email and your deposit will be held as a cancellation fee. If the balance has already been taken from your credit/debit card, no refund is available. However we may be able to offer you a place on a similar or alternative course. Company reservations will be invoiced for a cancellation fee equal to the deposit applicable or for the full course fee if a cancellation is less than four weeks notice.
Accommodation
We are sorry, but we are unable to provide accommodation for trainees. We will however send you a list of local hotels if you live out of the area.
